NOTE: Guwahati to Barpeta Road by road is approximately 140 kms and takes three and half hours. It takes further two hours to arrive Mothanguri Forest Lodge in Manas even though it is only 44 kms from Barpeta Road as the road is a fairly rustic dirt road. Mothanguri Forest Lodge is very basic and does not have electricity but located deep inside the Park.
It is important to save time in order to get to Manas before sunset as entry is not permitted after sunset. It is recommended to halt one night in Guwahati and drive to Manas after breakfast instead of driving straight from Guwahati Airport the same day.
Sighting of animals in Manas is not as good as it is in Kaziranga but the diversity of the habitat is very high. Mana has earned the epitaph of being the picture of the earth before the advent of humans.
